Today, I would like to introduce unagi-pie which is a local snack of my hometown, Hamamatsu city in Shizuoka prefecture. “unagi” means eel, and “pie” means pie as you know. Unagi-pie is often chosen for souvenir of from Hamamatsu city.
Unagi-pie is a pie which baked matching with eel powder, made from eel bone. Unagi-pie is ranked in 3rd of the favorite specialty ranking in Japan. This pie is called night confectionery. Originally, unagi-pie is hoped and made for spend family time wonderfully with it.
Unagi-pie is sold from shunkado that is one of Japanese confectionery companies. Other goods of this company are “suppon-no-sato (the township of soft-shelled turtle)” as breakfast confectionery, “shirasu-pie (whitebait pie)” as noon confectionery and “unagi-pie VSOP” as midnight confectionery. VSOP means it contains brandy.
I think unagi-pie tastes very good. It does not taste like eels, sweet and crispy. I am proud of my hometown Hamamatsu because unagi-pie is so delicious and I am proud of unagi-pie because it is famous for souvenir of Hamamatsu. I ate it several times and enjoyed, also I gave it several times for souvenir and made them happy.
